The Waihī Beach thrives on volunteers and it makes for a tight-knit community who know that we can count on each other!

If you have time to give – be it an hour a month or a day, it is appreciated in the community.

There are many opportunities to give back to your community. Check below for community groups that need your help on a regular basis or for one-off events.

Current Volunteer Roles

Gardening Enthusiasts

Waihī Beach Playcentre is looking for a local volunteers to help us maintain our gardens, general weeding, planting gardens.

Volunteer First Responder – Hato Hone St John

Do you want to help your community and are over 18 years old? Train to become a qualified NZQA first responder to help at Waihi Beach within six or less months.

Waihī Beach Information Centre Volunteers

Are you passionate about Waihī Beach?  Join the community of volunteers at the Info Centre to help out visitors find out more about our awesome beach.

Volunteer Fire Fighter

We are looking for more Volunteer Fire Fighters to help keep our community safe. If you are you live at Waihi Beach or Athenree, want to be part of a team, learn new skills and have time to train and respond to call outs.

Accessible Beach Mats

We are looking for volunteers to be on call to assist in bringing in beach mats before bad weather hits, or lay them back out afterwards. This could be just once a month or a couple of times per month for just 30-40 mins max!
